October 2009 - June 2011

Cavcon continues to supply varied customers thoughout South Africa. Our quality posts have recently been used, for example, on contracts for:

  • Sasol, Sasolburg
  • Cape Town Municipality, by several sub-contractors
  • Grinaker Yard, Gauteng
  • Metro Rail, at various railway stations in the Western Cape

...and naturally by many other smaller customers as well.

Prestressed concrete lintels also remain one of Cavcon's "bread and butter" product lines, although supply is concentrated on the local market.

Business has faced some tough times over the recent period, but Cavcon has kept steadily going - and we had a record turnover in November 2010, by a big margin!

September 2009

Cavcon supplies the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry with 13 000 prestressed fencing posts. The fence is being erected to protect water canals. The Department is very happy with the quality and strength of the Cavcon posts.

August 2008 – August 2009

Cavcon continues to manufacture and supply top quality prestressed fencing posts to all parts of the country. Some contracts include:

  • DWAF – Geelhout Canal
  • General Motors – Markman Plant
  • PWD – Rural roads in Eastern Cape
  • Vaal Marina – Water System
  • Various schools

July 2008

The Cavcon website is re-launched, having undergone a comprehensive overhaul. The new site is right up to date with new content and a modern, standards compliant and accessible design.

Cavcon’s long awaited additional lintel plant is opened. This new facility ensures that lintel production can be doubled. The demand is already there!

Fencing contracts during 2003 include Sun City, Denel Aviation, Western Province Schools, Metro Rail Stations, Saldanha Steel, and East Cape Schools. Cavcon continues to supply to all parts of the country.

Cavcon achieves record lintel sales for a calendar year with six weeks still to go before the end of the year!

8 August 2003

Cavcon supplies and installs (assisted by Ibhayi Fencing) a prestressed palisade fence for the radio mast situated on the beach at Cape Recife. (Photo) The fence is for the NPA - Lighthouse Services. The exposed steel parts are all stainless 316 and the prestressing wires are hot-dipped galvanised. The fence carries a 15 year anti-corrosion warranty!

July 2003

Buffalo City Municipality places an order for approximately 150 street name signs. A sample erected over four years ago is still in good condition.

June 2003

Once again Cavcon supplies and assists PDI contractors in erecting the palisade fence at Gqebera Cemetery.

February 2003

PDI contractors, with on-site assistance from Cavcon, erect a 1,8m high palisade fence for the front boundary of the Motherwell cemetery. The project forms part of the President’s Urban Renewal Programme. Over 6000 posts are supplied altogether.

18th April 2002

Cavcon supplies over 3000 posts to PDI contractors for the Zwide cemetery in Port Elizabeth. This cemetery is where Mr Govan Mbeki is buried.

April 2002

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality (Uitenhage) purchases approximately 2000 street name signs for Uitenhage. Letters of praise are written to the local newspaper!

1 November 2001

Cavcon's new Palisade System continues to grow in popularity. Recent contracts include Coega Pollution Monitoring Station, Kunene Funeral Parlour in Butterworth and Eskom Technical Service Centre in Port St Johns.

Lintel sales reach all time record figures during 2001. Where do builders use all these lintels? On average over 6000 metres of lintels are sold every month!

Cavcon is pleased to announce that the design of the new Palisade System has been completed and is now available.

Cavcon receives an order for their new Prestressed Fencing Posts for the N2/R300 roadway fence. The fence will be in excess of 18km long!
